Pismo za Julio Gorin
25 01 2007Julia Borin je za Baltimore Sun objavila članek z naslovom ; When will world confront the undead of Croatia?
Pismo za Julio;
I come from Slovenia, neighbouring country to Croatia. We Slovenes know a lot of »dirty deeds« made by Croats throughout the history. Specially about the ones made against us. I know talking about somebody elses errors is something old ladies do, but so many bad things happen that one can not stand still and do nothing but observe. That’s why I decided to write you this letter.
I think that we should look at the bigger picture. Let’s talk about countries who hasn’t regret and paid their dues to overcome nazi-faschist period in their history.
It is ours (Slovenes) bad luck that almost all our neighbours fall in that category so allow me to describe how I see things.
When the war was coming to an end Europe leaders were already looking at the future and the future wasn’t to bright for them because communists got really strong. Measures were taken and what happened was that Austria nad Italy quickly shifted their status from being a nazi-faschist agressor to being a victim of nazi-faschist agression. At least we can say is that it all happened with great help from allies. (There’s a documentary film that’s forbidden in Italy about the subject - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascist_Legacy ) Germany, Austria and Italy became a tampone zone and suited west just fine. All these countries had eastern communist neighbour countries full of pride and weapons. Western Europe was terrified. US army build a lot of bases in that tampone zones and install nuclear weapons just to be on the safe side. (There’s a big fuzz these days about nuclear weapons in US bases all over Italy) That was the beginning of the cold war.
What happened on east was that comunist governments killed as much nazi-faschist collaborators as they could find and stood their ground on the cold war front with the finger on the trigger.
Croatia is in my oppinion an equivalent country of Italy just on the other side of the iron certain. They’ve both had their own faschist countries fighting for Hitler and at the end of war both quickly shifted to being a victim, fighter for freedom, liberator and finally a winner.
A speech held in Australia by president of Croatia Stipe Mesic has been a big issue in december 2006. Among other things he said; »Croats won twice in WW2 and I want to tell that to our friends and enemies«
Nobody really repented except Germans. Jewis representative in Italy once said in sadness that Italians forgave themselves on a lunch break. I think that bad relations, people not trusting and hating their neighbours in this region is a result of not dealing with the dark past of being a Hitlers allie.
A little something about Slovenias neighbours.
Austria; At the end of the war the Allies signed Austrian State Treaty.
( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austrian_State_Treaty ) That was the foundation of todays Austria and the only way Austrians could have their own country. That treaty included »Artikel 7« on Slovene minority rights and Austria is still not fulfilling that obligation after 50 years. Artikel 7 unser recht!
( http://www.artikel7.at/index.php?Sprach_ID=2 ) is a documentary film forbidden in Austria.
Italy: Under Berlusconi rulling there has been said that Italy will perform cultural genocide and financial overtaking of Slovene and Croatian coastline territory. Italians performed ethnical clensing against Slovenian people in Slovenia before WW2 (Also discussed in Fascist Legacy documentary). Even Today Italian government hasn’t change its policy towards Slovenia; Ignoring.
Croatia: Croats performed ethnical clensing against Slovenian people even after WW2. It happened in a few villages on the Slovenian-Croatian border when people there claimed to be Slovenes and since border line was not fully agreed Croats didn’t want to lose those villages. Communist regime allowed it. We still have a lot of disputes about borders and other stuff.
This is an example of »Croatian way« (a Secovlje-Plovanija true story):
When the 10 day war here ended Slovenia consider herself as a true friend of Croatia and when Croats built border line checkpoint on Slovenian territory claiming that it’s »just a check point« nobody argued too much because at that time Croats had it rough with the Serbs. Today they say that the check point is a fact and that we should see things the way they are »on the terrain« ?!?! Slovenia only has 43 km of coastline and Croatia took 1 by doing that.
Croatian alter-ego; without Slovenia. They dream to be friends and neighbours with Austria, Italy and »everybody big in the world« where they beleive they belong and one small Slovenia is in their way. Plus Slovenians are way more succesfull and that’s making them crazy. In latest survey results show that Croats like Serbs and Bosnians more than Slovenes even though they’ve been killing each other ten years ago.
It has happen that some Croatian polititian accidently said to Austrian representative that they’re neighbours. Ups..where did that came from?
Hungary: I don’t know so it’s better to not say anything. Slovenia doesn’t have a problem with Hungary today.
What I’ve written must sound strongly as a 1 side of the story speech to you……………………
Zaključka ne bom objavil, ker ni pomemben.
